Sunday at Swab
I had the opportunity to spend Sunday at the Swab contemporary art fair in Barcelona. I am going to share in some post things that I saw that most caught my attention
Justine Otto
Justine Otto is an incredible artist. Her painting shows a daring mix, leaping fiercely from the figurative to the abstract, swaying in lines of neon colors in front of cold and muted environments but at the same time full of color through action rather than pigment. She impressed me as the large size of her work still maintained a careful aestheticism of the forms without being overloaded and maintaining that force of which does not seek perfection but process. When talking to her, it also caught my attention that, being from Poland, most of her pieces were about American cowboys. Then she explained she plays with the "perception of the force that emanates from these stereotypes."
